Matyo- Christmas Ornaments
This craft is unmistakably Eastern European-this product was made in Hungary. The craft is called “Matyo”, and the women who create them are called “writers of flowers”. This is a true cottage industry, where housewives do the embroidery in their homes, to be picked up at the end of the week by the co-op workers. This is a set of six embroidered Christmas ornaments. They are made of felt, and stuffed like little pincushions, with a loop for hanging. The needlework has a very rich look to it. These little creations make excellent package ties as well. Set of six includes Christmas tree, Pig, Apple, Bell, Crescent, Star, and Snowman. The Crescent is about 4 ½” tall. Condition is new, and there will be an informative card enclosed.
