BONE CHINA PLATES
SCOTTISH INTEREST PLATES
Fife Ceramics currently makes three plates, celebrating three very diverse aspects of the Scottish culture. All of the plates are 10 3/4" across, trimmed in gold, and held to a high quality of production.
Here is a wonderful tribute to the famous true story of Greyfriars Bobby, the little Skye Terrier who became the embodiment of loyalty and devotion. I think the design speaks for itself- very well done, with rich thistle garlands on the sides. It is trimmed generously in gold, and measures a generous 10 3/4" across. The back has the entire story of Bobby, his master "Auld Jock", and all of the other characters who came to love the little dog who would not leave his masters grave for 14 years. The makers mark is "Edwardian Fine Bone China".
Scottish Royal Highland Fusliers
This plate is in honor of the various regiments associated with the Royal Highland Fusiliers, and is approved by the Regiments. It is a limited edition, trimmed generously in gold, and measures 10 3/4" across. It is bordered by multiple banners denoting the illustrious battles they have fought in, from Blenheim to the Gulf.. The crests, the three colours they carry on parade, are also featured. This is a signature piece, with an extensive history on the back. This piece has been approved by the Royal Scots, Black Watch, Argylle Suth Highlanders, K.O.S.B., Gordon Highlanders, Queen's Own Highlanders, Scots Guards, Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).
The Royal Highland Fusiliers was formed on 20th January 1959, by the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry. These two famous Regiments were formerly three the 21st Fusiliers, the 71st Highlanders (Light Infantry) and the 74th Highlanders. Their combined history covers that of the British Army itself, and dates back to 1678. During fifteen reigns, from King Charles II to Queen Elizabeth II, there are few battlefields of importance on which they have not been present, either together of separately.
This design is a montage of beutifully rendered scenes of Scotland, with a bagpiper and flag in the center. The scenes shown are Burn's Cottage, Holyrood Palace, Melrose Abbey, Fingal's Cave, Loch Lomond, Glenfinnan Monument, and Edinburgh Castle. It is trimmed generously in gold, and measures a generous 10 3/4" across. The back has a brief description and history of each of the featured landmarks. The makers mark is "Edwardian Fine Bone China".\
